All Skin Is Normal Skin

“What’s that on your face?” Working part-time with children ages 3-15 has helped me face my inner battle against acne. Over the years, I’ve visited countless dermatologists and tried topical and internal medications to treat my acne. I’ve learned the meaning of defeat: having to reassess the approach and try again. And again. As the fight continues to persist, I have encountered situations, like the ones at my job, which have helped me become more comfortable opening up about my skin. I was able to educate young children who were unfamiliar with the topic and advocate body positivity. Living with hormonal cystic acne built many of my insecurities. It’s time for me to reclaim my negative self-perception and feel confident in my own skin. All skin is normal skin.
